Clopay® Commercial Introduces Custom Engineered Specialty Door Line

Clopay is introducing custom engineered commercial specialty doors to meet a variety of manufacturing, industrial, mass transit, public works and security applications including fourfold doors, hangar doors, crane doors, fire doors and swing doors. Each door is designed to meet specific opening size and operating specifications. All are available with both manual and power operation.

Lite/Four-Fold Doors – Built to meet the rigorous demands of securing two-way traffic openings in public works, parking, commercial, industrial, agricultural and correctional facilities, these doors provide low-maintenance costs and long service with high cycle operation. The doors can be designed to open at a rate of 2 feet per second. The panels fold completely clear of the opening allowing full, unobstructed access.

Hangar Doors – Available in a variety of configurations including tip-up, bi-fold, and various sliding panel designs, Clopay hangar doors are fabricated in factory modular assemblies with all components attached to save time and money on installation.

Clopay’s tip-up door system is a single piece upward-acting door system designed to maximize hangar access and withstand high wind loads while providing a weather-tight seal.

Fire Doors – Clopay fire door systems come in single-slide, bi-parting and teleslide multi-panel configurations for use in convention centers, commercial buildings, manufacturing and industrial facilities. The doors can be UL and FM labeled for up to 4 hours with a 250-degree in 30 minute temperature rise rating. Additional options include pass doors, vision lites, power operation, and monorail cutouts.

Clopay® Earns Gold Innovation Award from Home Builder Executive

Clopay today announced that it has received a Gold Award from the editors of Home Builder Executive for product innovation in the garage door category.

Clopay’s Coachman® Collection 2” polyurethane insulated steel and composite carriage house garage door and the Canyon Ridge® Collection Ultra-Grain® Series were both recognized for their durable, low-maintenance, innovative design, and superior energy efficiency.

“Carriage house doors continue to be popular among homeowners and builders looking for ways to distinguish and add value to their homes,” says Pat Lohse, vice president of residential marketing for Clopay. “These two products provide the look of natural wood without the upkeep. Clopay’s use of innovative construction materials and foam-injected polyurethane insulation help reduce maintenance costs and energy loss.”

Clopay recently added a 2” thick polyurethane insulation option with an R-value of 18.4 to its Coachman Collection, doubling the thermal performance of a polystyrene insulated door of the same thickness.

Fifteen carriage house designs with optional windows, decorative hardware and four paint colors are available to complement a variety of architectural styles.

The company also expanded on the success of its Canyon Ridge Collection Limited Edition Series faux wood door line, introducing an equally attractive and more economical version called the Canyon Ridge Collection Ultra-Grain Series. It features a 2” polyurethane insulated steel base door with Ultra-Grain,
a durable, natural-looking, woodgrain paint finish. Stained Clear Cypress composite overlays are applied to the steel door surface to create beautiful carriage house designs. It also has an R-value of 18.4. The ½”-thick cladding overlay material is molded from actual pieces of Clear Cypress wood to replicate its natural texture and intricate grain patterns.

The Canyon Ridge Collection Ultra-Grain Series is available in fourteen panel designs with a choice of windows or solid top sections in two finish colors: Medium and Walnut.

Clopay® Garage Doors Featured on Southern Living 2012 Idea House - Tours through December

Clopay Coachman® Collection carriage-house style garage doors are featured on the Southern Living 2012 Idea House, a renovated 1830s farmhouse located in Senoia, Ga.

The home plan is an innovative blend of regional historic cottage style with a few contemporary additions suited to living in the 21st century, including an attached two-car garage with a complete guest suite located above.

The architect chose Clopay’s insulated 4-layer steel and composite Coachman Collection garage doors with insulated rectangular windows and an “A” frame panel design to complement the clean lines and rustic architectural style.

The Coachman Collection mixes old world charm with modern technology to provide a low-maintenance alternative to wood carriage house style garage doors.

Although the barn-style garage doors appear to swing open, they operate with the modern convenience of a LiftMaster Model 8550 opener.

“Steel carriage house doors are a popular alternative to traditional wood doors because they are durable, insulated and won’t rot, warp or crack, eliminating the ongoing surface maintenance wood doors require,” says Pat Lohse, Clopay’s vice president of residential marketing.

Fifteen models with optional windows, decorative hardware and four paint colors are available to complement a variety of architectural styles.

Polyurethane insulation is foam injected between two steel skins, providing an R-value of 18.4 to help improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the living space above the garage.

Coachman Collection doors are available with Clopay’s built-in WindCode® reinforcement system for homes located in coastal and high wind areas.

The Southern Living 2012 Idea House is expected to draw 40,000 visitors from across the country to tour the home, which is open to the public now through December 23, 2012.

Located 25 miles from Atlanta, Senoia’s main street looks like a scene out of Driving Miss Daisy – because it actually was. The town doubles as a back lot for popular film and TV projects including the classic Fried Green Tomatoes and AMC’s current television hit, The Walking Dead.

A portion of the proceeds from the home tour ticket sales will be donated to Camp Southern Ground, the charitable partner for the 2012 Idea House.

Zac Brown, of the GRAMMY award-winning Zac Brown Band, donated a 500-acre piece of property south of Atlanta to build a summer camp for children ages 7 -17 with typical and special needs.
A feature article about the project will appear in the August 2012 issue of Southern Living magazine.

Amarr Garage Doors Featured on HGTV Curb Appeal: The Block

Products from Amarr Garage Doors were featured on a recent episode of “Curb Appeal: The Block” on HGTV. The first airing of Curb Appeal featuring the Amarr products was on Friday, May 4.

It is likely to be repeated during the next couple months (please check local listings for dates and times).

Neighbors Amanda Kelsoe, Amy Warren and Hollee Ford from North Euless, Texas were selected for exterior home fa├žade and landscape makeovers from John Gidding, host of “Curb Appeal: The Block” after entering a nation-wide contest sponsored by the “Rachael Ray Show.” Gidding and HGTV said they chose the Euless neighbors because of their strong sense of community.

Gidding and his team asked Amarr Garage Doors to provide complementing garage doors to enhance the curb appeal of the homes. A local Amarr dealer Family Christian Doors installed Classica Collection and Stratford garage doors that complemented the design of the homes. The designers and construction crew worked on the houses concurrently during January 2012.

“We are so grateful to HGTV and Rachael Ray for choosing our families for this project,” said homeowner Amy Warren.

Clopay® Introduces Canyon Ridge® Collection Ultra-Grain® Series

Residential garage door manufacturer Clopay is expanding its line of faux wood carriage house garage doors, combining two of the company’s most popular styles into a new, energy efficient, low-maintenance, economically priced line called the Canyon Ridge Collection Ultra-Grain Series.

The Canyon Ridge Collection Ultra-Grain Series features a polyurethane insulated steel base door with the company’s innovative Ultra-Grain simulated stained woodgrain paint finish. Composite overlays molded from actual pieces of Clear Cypress wood are attached to the door surface to create the carriage house designs.

Unlike natural material, this faux wood door is moisture resistant, so it won’t rot, warp, split, shrink, separate, or crack.

"The ½”-thick cladding overlay material replicates with uncanny realism the natural texture and intricate grain patterns of the Clear Cypress pieces it is molded from," says Pat Lohse, vice president of residential marketing for Clopay. "Once installed, it’s virtually indistinguishable from the real thing"

The Ultra-Grain steel paint finish has a horizontal grain pattern to complement the overlays.

The Canyon Ridge Collection Ultra-Grain Series is available in fourteen panel designs with a choice of windows or solid top sections in two finish colors: Walnut and Medium. Optional decorative hardware can be added to enhance the character of the doors.

Two-inch thick polyurethane insulation foam injected between the door's two steel skins with a thermal break provide an 18.4 R-value for year round comfort and energy efficiency. It also adds strength and rigidity to the door panels to help resist dents and reduce noise. Insulated windows are also offered.
